On March 16th, my paternal Grandmother passed away in her sleep after fighting Alzheimer's for many long years. Right now I'm a little lost for words but thought I would share with you the obituary I was honored to write for her.
Pansy Maxine Swesey ,78, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2009 surrounded by her children and family at Hospice of the Valley Eckstein Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. Pansy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a bright light of laughter and love in her family and touched many lives. Her creativity and energetic spirit along with her compassion for all creatures and the pride she had in her family will always be remembered. Pansy Crow was born on November 16,1930 in Hollis, OK to proud parents Isaac Calvin Crow and Jennie Louise McCarty. On December 11,1952 she was married to Dale LaVerne Swesey and they remained in matrimony and love for 56 years. In 1956, Dale and Pansy moved to Southern California for Dale to take a position as an aerospace engineer for NASA’s Apollo Program. She was a proud mother and grandmother first, but also helped run the family business as office manager. In March 3, 1971 she moved with her family from Southern California to Phoenix, Arizona where she loved living for the rest of her life.
She is survived by her husband, Dale Swesey of Mayer, Arizona, and their four sons along with their wives, Kevin and Shelly Swesey of Phoenix, Keith and Linnie Swesey of Scottsdale, Kim and Laura Swesey of New River, and Kurt and Elizabeth Swesey of Anthem. Remembering her are also her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. A celebration of her life for family and friends will take place on March 28, 2009 at 5504 E. Beck Ln in Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in her honor to Hospice of the Valley at 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.

Very well said, Heather. I think you should frame the porchswing pictures, as you have such wonderful last memories of your grandmother there.
