They don't even sell thermals in the O.C.

Last weekend I went skiing with Melissa and Dave at Mountain High. We went from 77 degrees to 35 degrees in just an hour and a half from Irvine and it amazes me that you can go from the beach to the mountains in such a short time period. I would like to start out by saying that I in no way, shape, or form care for any of these pictures however I wanted to blog them as proof that yes I can ski, albeit very poorly, but I can still do it! I managed to make it down the bunny hill on 10 runs and not fall at all! I hope my super star skiing cousin Summer is proud! The whole strategy to my madness was borrowing ski blades from Mel...they are awesome! I have found a whole new love for skiing, which I guess happens when you spend more time doing it and less time trying to get up. I didnt get home until 1am on Saturday, we are a couple of real party animals I tell ya', and I have a bruise exactly 1 inch wide on both shines that I am very proud of. It was awesome and I had such a great time.
please dont laugh at me.

Started out the afternoon with a big lunch at a Chinese restaurant in Irvine. Yum! We joined Melissa's childhood friend and her husband who also live in Irvine and have the cutest dog! Here is a picture of Melissa teaching us how to make an origami dog out of a chopstick holder...I was intensely concentrating as you can see...

I dont know exactly what I am so shocked about, probably somebody going to run in to me since I go so slow. If you look closely you can see the conveyor belt to get up the hill behind me. This ended up being my arch-nemesis for the evening...I kept falling off the thing. However towards the end I did manage to successfully get off (although I still tripped the sensor which made the whole thing stop and a bunch of boarders very angry) and decided that a goal accomplished is a night worth ending.

I was trying to look serious...obviously I don't take serious very seriously. we call this one "the constipated chicken":

I need to work on looking half way cool while doing the wedge:

even the little girl can go up the conveyor belt without a problem:

Melissa just looks so much cooler than I do. I really need to learn how to board, it will increase my "cool" status 10 fold:

Thanks Melissa and Dave for an awesome night at the slopes. And hey, if this science thing doesnt work out I think we could all open up a ski shop. Dave is a fantastic instructor, Melissa just looks good, and hey at least I can make the kids feel like they are better than me...eh cause most of them are. Can't wait to try the ski lift, that should be interesting.

you also have to learn to NOT slide backwards on the conveyer belt!...

but to all, heather did a great job. she was freaking out at the beginning, but managed to feel comfortable and cruise down the hill by the end of the evening... good job, heather!

I think this pictures are great! I know that U. Chris would be critiquing, but I can tell you had fun! What a great experience and how nice of Melissa and Dave to take you!
