What the????????

Is it just be or are New Yorkers deluted? Seriously when it comes to the difference between a cockroach and a "waterbug" what is it?

After waking up this morning to turn over and get some more covers, I opened my eyes for a second and...a huge COCKROACH on my wall. Just inches from my face and crawling on my bed and spreading its diseases while laying millions of eggs...ok Im a little extreme but I have racked my brain trying to think of a creature more disgusting than a cockroach and I cant.

So since Ive been up since 6am on a Saturday after a very hard work week, Im a little zombie-like and have decided that I am going to solve this cockroach vs. waterbug issue once and for all.

After all my research, I have concluded that a "waterbug" is just another name for a really, big cockroach. Do you think NYers (in particular my landlord) continues to clarify that we have "waterbugs" and says things like "oh thats just a waterbug" to make himself feel better than saying, "sorry Heather you woke up with a really big COCKROACH, the most disgusting and foul creature on earth, about to crawl on your face and eat your eyes this morning..I will take care of that right away!" NOPE! I just dont get it, why do NYers feel the need to have a different definition for what the rest of the county considers a roach??

I will spare my readers the pictures between a cockroach and a waterbug but lets just put it this way, Im right and every NYer that insists on convincing themselves otherwise is wrong.

Simply put.

And for those that want to say, "no thats a palmetto bug" WRONG again! Ive seen palmetto bugs, i grew up in the southwest and they are not cockroaches. Gosh people, just accept it, you saw a cockroach and go and get some raid.

Do you remember my first apartment in Taiwan--the one that was infested with cockroaches? I am still traumatized by those things! Just count the days 'til you'll be outta there!
